{"id":378,"date":"2026-01-23T11:40:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T17:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tasteandseegardens.com\/?page_id=378"},"modified":"2026-01-23T11:41:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T17:41:05","slug":"growing-practices","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tasteandseegardens.com\/index.php\/growing-practices\/","title":{"rendered":"Growing-Practices"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About My Growing Practices<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why I choose to grow the way that I do:<\/h2>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 40px;\">Everything belongs to our Sovereign God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 80px;\">The earth was created by God for all mankind.<br \/>Our body is formed by God.<br \/>Our soul is created by God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 40px;\">As a follower of Jesus Christ, I Honor God by choosing the Way of Life, both spiritually and physically.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 40px;\">Jesus answered, <span class=\"rl\">\u201cThe most important is, \u2018Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.<\/span> <span id=\"yui-gen28\" class=\"rl\">\u00a0And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.\u2019<\/span> <span id=\"yui-gen27\" class=\"rl\">\u00a0The second is this: \u2018You shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 There is no other commandment greater than these.\u201d<\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What I will *not* do:<\/h2>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 40px;\">I will not be using herbicide, pesticides nor fungicides.\u00a0 These products do not promote life.<br \/>Note the suffix &#8216;-cide&#8217; denotes &#8216;to kill&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What I will do:<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>I will grow all of my produce using organic methods along with additional regenerative methods.<\/li>\n<li>I will use soil testing as a guide to improve the mineralization of my garden.\u00a0 \u00a0(Based on these tests, I will add the appropriate organic soil amendments as needed.)<\/li>\n<li>I will use cover crops as a means to add and maintain fertility and biological life (microbes) to the soil.<\/li>\n<li>I will use foliar sprays to add needed micro nutrients to the plants.\u00a0 (if you happen to be driving by and you see me spraying the plants&#8230;this is what I am doing)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Certifications:<\/h2>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 40px;\">I will not be certified organic via the government USDA National Organic Program.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mentors:<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>I enjoy reading, studying and improving my growing practices by the teachings of many great folks, including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Arden Andersen<\/li>\n<li>Eliot Coleman<\/li>\n<li>Helen Atthowe<\/li>\n<li>Jean-Martin Fortier<\/li>\n<li>Jerry Brunetti<\/li>\n<li>John Kempf<\/li>\n<li>Megan Neubauer<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About My Growing Practices Why I choose to grow the way that I do: Everything belongs to our Sovereign God.
